Wolgaster Restored Party Bus for Dream Weddings and Celebrations!

In Wolgast, a newly restored American school bus is causing a stir. Built in 1991, the bus that once chugged along the streets of the United States is now ready to take on a new role. Roland Beckmann, a 61-year-old native of Wolgast, bought this magnificent piece of American mobility a few years ago and has since then painstakingly repaired it. About eight years ago, he bought the bus's home port through eBay classifieds in Berlin and invested around 10,000 euros in the restoration, which included installing a new floor, paint preparation and TÜV inspection, reports Baltic Sea newspaper.

Beckmann not only created the bus as an eye-catcher, but also plans to use it as a party bus for weddings and bachelor parties. “The Wolgast town hall square is a fantastic backdrop for such celebrations,” says the former restaurateur, who has been running a sports bar and a stadium kiosk in the Heidekreis district in Lower Saxony since 2014.

A bus with history

The American school bus has an impressive horsepower of 160 and offers comfortable space for eight passengers. Beckmann has already received the first bookings from a wedding party in Fallingbostel and Walsrode who wanted to enjoy the nostalgic ride in the bus. “It’s just fun to see how people react to the bus,” said Beckmann.

His passion for gastronomy and events is no coincidence. Beckmann began his career in various restaurants before moving to the West in 1990. He had the idea of taking over a restaurant in Wolgast, but rejected it because of the noise. The school bus now remains its most important pillar in creating unforgettable experiences.

Economic considerations

At a time when alternative mobility solutions and unique event concepts are very popular, Beckmann shows a good knack for boosting his business in creative ways. The investments in the bus and the rental plans could prove to be extremely lucrative in the near future and set a new trend on the island of Usedom.

As a Wolgaster native, Beckmann is keen to honor local traditions and at the same time bring a breath of fresh air into event culture. “I’m excited to be able to offer people an unforgettable experience as they discover the beauty of our region,” he concludes.

With his nostalgic party bus, Beckmann looks optimistically into the future and could therefore make an important contribution to the lively event culture not only in Wolgast, but throughout Usedom. Whether as a wedding vehicle or as an extraordinary shuttle for other events, the options are varied and promise unforgettable moments.
