Braunschweig Christmas Market: Can you keep the mulled wine cup?

When the lights in Braunschweig shine and the smell of roasted almonds and mulled wine hangs in the air, then it's Christmas market time! The Braunschweig Christmas market, known as one of the most beautiful in northern Germany, is once again attracting countless visitors this year. On December 9, 2025, guests will be milling about between the festively decorated stands around Braunschweig Cathedral and Dankwarderode Castle.

Kärntnermarkt and Almburschen are also represented and offer hearty cheese and sausage products. Animal treats are also not neglected - at the Tatzenbäckerei there are homemade cookies for dogs and cats.

Another interesting stall at the Christmas market is Chris Savaj’s Beauty Corner, where vegan face creams and practical bamboo bathrobes are on offer. For fashion lovers, Jstyle offers handmade hats, scarves and socks, ideal for the cold season. Nordic stockings and other Scandinavian accessories also create a cozy atmosphere.

The opening times are generous: Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sundays and public holidays from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. On December 29th the Christmas market opens from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., while the market is closed on December 24th and 25th.
