Ice cream prices shock Delmenhorst: scoops cost up to 2 euros!

The warm weather in northern Germany attracts many people to the ice cream parlors. Families and friends enjoy the sweet delicacies, especially during the summer holidays. The prices for a scoop of ice cream vary greatly, both in Delmenhorst and Bremen, and depend on various factors such as the quality of the ingredients and the operating costs. The regional ice cream parlor scene is booming, and customers are willing to pay more for artisanal ice cream. In Delmenhorst, for example, the Zampolli ice cream parlor currently prices its scoop at 1.50 euros, but is planning to increase it to 1.70 euros, while the Gelateria Palazzo on Rathausplatz has increased the price to 1.60 euros. These price increases reflect the general developments on the ice cream market, as Weser-Kurier reports.

At the same time, the ice cream parlors in Bremen are showing similar trends. For example, Gelateria Ferrari has been offering its scoop for three years at a stable price of 1.80 euros, while other ice cream parlors, such as Roberto Cercená's, have made an increase from 1.40 euros to 1.50 euros. Massimo Rubino's ice cream mobile has also increased its price from 1.20 euros to 1.50 euros. These price increases are widespread in the industry and are related to rising production and operating costs.

Ice cream parlors in focus

The ice cream parlors in Delmenhorst and Ganderkesee offer not only traditional flavors but also creative innovations. In addition to the regular price of 1.60 euros for a scoop, the Gelateria Palazzo on Rathausplatz also has special “ice cream of the week” offers, such as Bounty ice cream and watermelon. The ice cream parlor Monte Negro has raised its prices to 1.60 euros and is now offering “Lampone ice cream” made from raspberries in its range.

The Zampolli ice cream parlor offers a specialty, homemade pistachio ice cream, for 3 euros per scoop. The ice cream parlor Milo Melo also has a new flavor, “Dubai ice cream,” on offer and remains stable at a price of 1.60 euros. The ice cream parlors are not only popular because of their variety of tastes; They also score points with special creations such as the baklava ice cream in the KostBar in Ganderkesee.

Price developments and market comparisons

The rise in ice cream prices is not just a local phenomenon. According to Kräe Eistechnik, prices for a scoop of ice cream rose by an average of 6.2% last year, increasing the nationwide price to 1.72 euros per scoop. In large cities such as Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt the prices are even higher. If you compare internationally, the prices in Portugal and Greece are around 2.50 euros and in Spain even 3.00 euros per ball.

Despite these increases, the pricing policy does not necessarily lead to higher profits for the ice cream parlors. Explosions in energy and raw material costs as well as rising personnel costs are putting companies under pressure. A look at consumption habits also shows that ice cream consumption in Germany is declining slightly. In 2022, consumption was 8.1 liters per capita, which fell to 7.9 liters in 2023.

Overall, it shows that ice cream parlors in northern Germany are finding interactive and creative ways to assert themselves in an increasingly competitive market. The combination of tradition and innovation will continue to pique the interest of ice cream-loving customers.
