Complete closure at the Delmenhorst motorway triangle: new bridge is being lifted!

Drivers at the Delmenhorst motorway triangle will have to prepare for significant restrictions in the coming days. The reason for the traffic chaos is the construction of a new bridge, which took place today, September 13, 2025. The section of the B75 from the Stickgras junction to the motorway triangle will be completely closed until Monday morning at 5 a.m., as Weser-Kurier reports.

Saturday morning was particularly exciting when the new bridge for the A28 Delmenhorst-Hasport/Stadtmitte exit was lifted. This is a long-awaited moment for Autobahn GmbH, as work on the Delmenhorst motorway triangle has been going on for some time. The entire renovation was originally scheduled to be completed in April, but delays led to a new assessment that does not expect the remaining work to be completed until the fourth quarter of 2023.

Construction site development and its background

The full closure is necessary in order to install the steel frame that was delivered for the new bridge. A brief construction stop at the end of June caused additional complications due to delivery delays for special components. The Kreisanzeiger [Kreiszeitung](https://www.kreiszeitung.de/lokales/niedersachsen/autobahn-dreieck-soll-komplett-gesperrt- Werden-besseres-93880082.html) emphasizes that the current work is mainly focused on the area behind the abutments, which are crucial for the load-bearing capacity of the new bridge.

The project is part of a comprehensive initiative to modernize and maintain infrastructure in Germany. In a country with around 40,300 bridges, most of which were built between 1960 and 1985, the need for action is great. The BMVI has launched a bridge modernization program in order to adapt existing bridges to the increased requirements in terms of load-bearing capacity and traffic safety.

The replacement of the old bridge, which has been in operation since 1961, was urgently necessary for safety reasons. Particularly major security deficiencies were discovered in 2019. A material failure on the prestressing steel caused alarm at the time. Alarming circumstances such as suspicions of unexploded ordnance from World War II and the challenge of working with sandy soil have continually disrupted the project's schedule.

Traffic diversion and future measures

With the temporary closure of the B75, corresponding diversions are also signposted. Traffic is routed via Syker Straße to the B75 and back to the Annenheider Allee roundabout. The Reinersweg is also partly used. Drivers around Bremen should therefore prepare for changed routes. These measures are part of a bigger picture, because the A1 will also be forced to close completely in the near future.

The work on the Delmenhorst motorway triangle is a reflection of the challenges facing the transport infrastructure in Germany. Investments in bridge modernization are crucial in order to ensure smooth and safe transport connections in the future. This project will not only put Autobahn GmbH's resources to the test, but also the patience of commuters. Mark September 13th in your calendar - it is the day on which another chapter in the history of Delmenhorst transport connections was written.
