BMX World Championship 2025: Meppen's little champion in the spotlight!
We have an exciting evening ahead of us on October 25, 2025, as the Nordtour invites its viewers to another interesting program. From 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. there is the opportunity to immerse yourself in the diverse facets of Northern Germany. Topics such as landscapes, places of longing and original types are on the program. A real feast for Francophiles and food lovers! Culture and lifestyle are presented in a mix that not only entertains, but also stimulates thought. NDR reports that the show will also air early Sunday morning, October 26, 2025, at 2:50 a.m. and again at 6:00 a.m.
A highlight of the episode is the topic “Cemetery Whispers,” in which Anja Kretschmer-Rodenbröker guides her guests through the cemeteries of northern Germany. With a special focus on mourning culture and dealing with death, an often avoided topic is illuminated in a creative way. What is particularly important is the approach of making the stories behind the gravestones visible and thus establishing a human connection.
Lively culture and sport in the north
The Cascadas Club in Hamburg, led by Claudia Vásquez and Kristina Kasat, offers a completely different insight into northern German culture. Every generation is addressed here with a colorful program, including the popular Caribbean Nights. Miguel Angel leads the guests in movement to Latino rhythms and ensures a sociable atmosphere.
A notable athlete from the region is Luke Harms from Meppen. At just eight years old, he has already won several German championship titles and even the European championship title in BMX. His journey began at the age of five and took him to his first World Championships, where he finished 10th. In the future he will certainly also take part in the BMX racing world championships, which have been held annually since 1996 and have been based exclusively on the standard (20 inch) bike class since 2025. These competitions attract riders from all over the world and are organized by the UCI. Wikipedia explains that the most successful nations in this sport are France and the USA.
Diversity in culture and art
In Kiel, the Schleswig-Holstein State Library surprises with a new cultural storage facility that not only serves as a library, but also offers a café and co-working spaces. Among the treasures of this institution is the original manuscript of the “Schimmelreiter”, which will not only delight literature lovers, but also bring the history of Schleswig-Holstein to life.
The art school in Emden offers a wide range of courses, from drawing and painting courses to wood sculpture. Not only locals but also guests are warmly welcomed here and can let their creativity run wild. The events are ideal for anyone who wants to learn painting or drawing.
A look at the local gastronomy shows the Café Anna Blume in Hanover, which impresses with a special concept. Inclusion is very important here: people with and without disabilities work together and should be supported in doing so. A wonderful example of how integration can also be successful in the catering industry.
The exciting topics don't end here! The painting school in Emden and the special exhibition “150 for the 150th.” in the Pinneberg Museum also contribute to the lively cultural diversity. Anyone interested in Halloween will also get their money's worth in Hamburg-Bramfeld. There, Halloween expert Edna von Haertels Faschingswelt organizes over 10,000 costumes for the scary night - fun for young and old!
These diverse offerings show how lively and colorful life is in Northern Germany and invite you to explore. Whether culture, sport or creative activities, there is something for everyone. Get ready for an inspiring evening and let yourself be carried away by the diversity!
