Triathlon fever at Tankumsee: 700 athletes fight for victory!

A big sporting event is imminent: The Brawo Tankumsee Triathlon moves on Sunday, June 19, 2025, 700 athletes to Isenbüttel. Organized by VfL Wolfsburg e.V., the event is already celebrating its 21st edition. A real highlight for the region, in which not only the participants will get their money's worth.

The competition starts at 11:00 a.m. with the first 100 male participants, and the official starting shot is from District Councilor Mr. Meyer for Schlocht . This is followed by two starting groups with a total of 200 women, who start into the race every ten minutes. Another four groups will complete the competition.

The triathlon leaves nothing to be desired. The swimming route is 500 meters, in which the participants cross the tankum lake and then swim 250 meters back. Then it goes to the 20 kilometer long bike route, followed by an exciting 5-kilometer run around the Tankumsee. The athletes can look forward to a perfect route that is tailored to their performance.

Around 150 volunteers are on duty to make the event a full success. Many of the helpers will be on site from 6 a.m. to prepare everything and solve possible problems quickly.

The triathlon is a great opportunity for the audience to support the athletes on the edge of the route and in the target area. The first finish is expected around 12 p.m. However, the traffic restrictions will not be insignificant: the K114 will be fully blocked from 10:45 a.m., and the campsite is also not approaching or departed during the closure. Departments are set up to ensure that the Tankumsee remains accessible.

Late registrations on the day of the event are not possible because all starting places have already been awarded. So if you want to actively participate, you should pay attention to the registration for the next year so as not to be late. For interested beginners there are currently free places for registration for the next event, which will take place on June 16, 2024, as Triathlon-gifhorn.de

The fascination triathlon has grown in recent years and is attracting more and more participants. In Germany there are around 600 triathlon events annually, with an increasing number of athletes. The number of participants from 90,000 in 2003 rose to 270,000 in 2016, a trend that looks promising for the future.
