Eintracht Northeim: KSN Cup fiasco-without points and without goals!

The KSN Cup 2025 causes excitement and a lot of interest in the region, but the expectations for Eintracht Northeim were not fulfilled. Already after the first two games in the preliminary round, the Northeimers said goodbye to the tournament.
In the opening game, Eintracht met the 1st SC Göttingen 05 and had to accept a bitter 0: 4 defeat. Coach Philipp Weißenborn was calm after the game and noticed: "A release in the preliminary round can happen." But when looking at the game it was to be seen that his team showed little emotions and resistance what the audience disappointed.

The second game against SV Alfeld followed on Tuesday, in which Northeim absolutely wanted to score. The team presented itself improved, but the countable success failed to materialize. The Northeimers had to give up with 0: 1, with ex-player Felix König scored the decisive goal for Alfeld in the final minute. In the end, Northeim remains without a point and without a goal and now has to watch the semi -finals that will be held on Friday. After the preliminary round games, Göttingen 05 is a clear favorite after also defeating Alfeld 4: 1 and brought an almost completely new eleven to the field.

The KSN Cup games at a glance

The KSN Cup was held from July 15th to 19th, 2025 and combines the teams of FC Eintracht Northeim and SSV Nörten-Hardenberg to an exciting season preparation tournament. In addition to Northeim and Nörten-Hardenberg, SC Hainberg (defending champion), 1. SC Göttingen 05, TuSpo Petershütte and SV Alfeld also take part.

The preliminary round was played in the "Everyone against everyone" mode, followed by a knockout phase. In the group in Nörten-Hardenberg, the local team managed to secure their first place with 4 points, while Northeim in the group in Northeim reached the end of the flagpole with zero points. The entire tournament attracted numerous spectators and offered fair encounters, which was also defined as the goal of the event.

For the semi -finals that are pending on Friday, July 18, the following encounters are on the plan:

  • SSV Nörten-Hardenberg against SV Alfeld at 5:30 p.m.
  • 1. SC Göttingen 05 against SC Hainberg at 7:00 p.m.

The grand finale takes place on Saturday afternoon in the Gustav-Wegner Stadium in Northeim. The game for third place begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the final at 6:00 p.m. It remains to be seen whether Göttingen 05 can carry this swing to the final, while Northeim has to look at the next season. The move of Göttingen 05 to the Jahnstadion for the Landesliga home games was recorded positively; Trainer Jelle Brinkwerth is convinced that the association will benefit from this move.
