Renewal of the power grid in Bovenden: construction sites are causing disruptions!

There will be a lot of work on the Feldtorweg in Bovenden in the coming months. The Bovenden municipal works have started work to renew the power grid, which is expected to last until the end of the year. The focus of these measures is an approximately 50 meter long section in the direction of the Südring, which begins directly behind the entrance to the Sparkasse. The aim is to improve the quality of supply and the performance of the electricity network, which is particularly important for the integration of renewable energies.

However, the construction work will cause some traffic disruptions. Pedestrians and cyclists often have to cross to the other side of the street because the pedestrian and cycle path is closed on one side. To ensure the safety of construction workers and road users, a temporary speed limit of 30 km/h has been set. However, there are no major interruptions to the flowing vehicle traffic as it passes the construction site. Even the residents and shops usually remain easily accessible.

Sustainability in focus

The renewal of the power grid fits in with the current trend Energy transition, which is being increasingly promoted in Germany. This transformation is not just a fancy word, but affects each and every one of us, especially with the aim of ensuring a sustainable and reliable energy supply. As part of the energy transition, the focus is primarily on the use of renewable energies: wind, sun, biomass, geothermal energy and hydropower are the main players that not only serve to generate electricity, but also help to avoid raw material conflicts and climate protection problems.

According to current figures from... Federal Environment Agency By 2024, 22.4% of gross final energy consumption will be covered by renewable sources, and by 2030 this will even rise to 41%. A goal that is supported by the continuous expansion of technologies such as wind power and photovoltaics. Wind energy is at the forefront and makes a significant contribution to electricity generation - in 2024, for example, over 138 billion kilowatt hours were generated by wind power.

A look into the future

As construction work on Feldtorweg continues to progress, the question arises: How will the energy landscape develop in the coming years? Renewable energies play a key role when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In 2024, more than 259 million tons of CO₂ equivalents could be avoided by using these sustainable energy sources.

In Bovenden, the municipal utilities are not only improving the infrastructure, but they are also making an active contribution to a sustainable energy future. A good hand for a clean and secure energy supply for the next generation could not be more important.
