Dance trainer from Bremerhaven: Trial for serious child abuse begins

A dark chapter in the Bremerhaven dance scene will be rolled out in front of the youth chamber of the Bremen regional court from Monday, December 8, 2025. A 35-year-old dance trainer is on trial accused of serious sexual abuse of children. The public prosecutor's office has accused him of sexual acts with at least four underage children in a total of 39 cases, which is more serious than many cases in the area of juvenile criminal law.

Not only is a former teacher targeted, but also a former role model for many children. One of the affected witnesses is the professional dancer and TikTok star Avemoves, who recently reported on his traumatic experiences in a YouTube video. The abuse he suffered at the hands of his dance teacher began when he was just ten years old. Avemoves had the courage to file a complaint, which started the case.

The allegations in detail

The crimes occurred between 2009 and 2022, and the allegations also included very serious, intimate assaults. There is talk of oral and anal sex for some victims. These incidents mostly took place in the private sector, while the Beer dance school, where the defendant worked, was valued by him as popular with students and parents. Horst Beer, the owner of the dance school, denied any allegations and confirmed that no attacks had taken place in the school itself.

The lived presumption of innocence naturally applies until the verdict is announced, which is scheduled for January 29, 2026, after a total of five trial dates have been scheduled. However, if the allegations are true, the coach could face a prison sentence of one to 15 years.

Social relevance and support for those affected

This case highlights a serious problem that the Federal Independent Commission has been investigating since 2016: child sexual abuse. Perpetrators often exploit their position of power and authority to manipulate children and young people. The definition of sexual abuse covers a variety of acts, although even verbal innuendos can be counted as assaults. These offenses are a serious issue that affects many people, not only in a courtroom but also in society.

It is particularly important that affected children and young people are not left alone. Specialist counseling centers offer support and therapeutic support to work through things and find a way back to normality. Digital media bring with them additional risks that cannot be ignored. It is therefore essential that both schools and parents keep a close eye on the safety of children and young people.

Under the shadow of the ongoing proceedings, it is to be hoped that the children affected receive the help they deserve and that society learns from these tragic events.
