On November 29, 2025, a very special person and colleague will be remembered in the Hameln region: Horst Körber died at the age of 80. Born on February 22, 1945 in Landringhausen, he leaves a rich legacy in the world of journalism and media.

His career began with training as an advertising clerk, followed by his first job as an advertising assistant at the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung. At just 29 years old, Körber took over the management of the advertising department of the regional “Bild” edition in Hanover. There he developed numerous innovative offers for advertisers and introduced small-format service inserts and a free classifieds market for the first time.

A life for the media

From 1990 to 2009, Horst Körber worked as advertising manager, deputy publishing manager and authorized signatory at the C.W. publishing house. Niemeyer. During this time he was not only responsible for the advertising area, but also played a key role in organizing concerts in the Weserbergland Stadium. He was also the initiator of the first newspaper by children for children. Under his leadership, “Bild Hannover” was the first daily newspaper to present concerts, which opened a whole new chapter in the regional media landscape.

After his resignation in 2009, Körber continued to be involved in the community, including in the senior citizens' advisory board in Barsinghausen, with the "Plattfüssen Landringhausen" and in the Petrus parish. His passion also went into the Calenberger Cultour & Co. association, which he co-founded.

While Horst Körber was influential for the media in the Hameln region, the Axel Springer Group is going through major changes. The company is currently planning to spin off its online classifieds business, which may have far-reaching consequences for the industry.
