A festive evening took place in the “Klütside” café on November 29, 2025, which was all about recognition and appreciation. The local branch of the SPD Hameln honored long-standing members for their extraordinary commitment to the party and to the community. Ten people celebrating their anniversary were delighted to receive a thank you from the association and were recognized at this celebratory event by the warmest words of the guests of honor. The SPD parliamentary group leader Matthias Miersch, the former mayor of Hamelin, Susanne Lippmann, and the local association chairman Alexander Werner presented the honors.

“Voluntary work is the backbone of our democracy,” emphasized Matthias Miersch in his speech, emphasizing the great importance of the members’ commitment. The musical accompaniment of the event was provided by Ursula-Margerete Bloß, who provided the appropriate setting with her performances. Such honorable events are of central importance for the SPD local association in Hameln, as both Werner and the other board members present emphasized.

Look into the past

A look back at a similar honoring event that took place in the same café on October 26, 2024 makes the importance of this tradition clear. At that time, eight people celebrating their anniversary were honored for their decades of loyalty to the party. The evening was not only led by Alexander Werner, but also supported by deputy Karin Echtermann.
