Drama in the north: Fire brigade saves cat Queeny after five days in the tree!
There was recently an unusual rescue operation in the northern German city of Norden in the Aurich district: the cat “Queeny” was stuck in a tree around 16 meters high for five days. The owners missed their beloved cat on Tuesday, October 21st, when it escaped from the garden in the Leybuchtpolder district. Despite multiple unsuccessful attempts to lure Queeny down with food and calls, the cat remained unlocated until operators finally asked the fire department for help on Friday, October 24th. As NDR reported, strong wind speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour ensured that a rescue operation was not possible on Friday.
The fire department came into action on Saturday, October 25th, with a turntable ladder and twelve emergency services. The rescuers had to remove numerous branches with a chainsaw to create access to the frightened cat. During the rescue operation, Queeny remained remarkably calm and watched the firefighters closely. After about an hour of work, two firefighters were finally able to gently remove the cat from the tree and bring it to a safe home. Queeny survived the entire time in the tree unharmed, despite the adverse weather conditions, and showed gratitude after being rescued by immediately starting to eat. After this exciting experience, however, she had to be grounded first, which was certainly a relief for her owner.
A team of heroes
Local residents discovered Queeny in the treetops, and an amateur climber ultimately helped save the cat. These dedicated helpers and the North Volunteer Fire Department were praised by the owners and neighbors for their courage and determination. The entire rescue operation is not only an example of community strength, but also highlights the importance of taking care of our furry friends.
Stories like these touch people's hearts and show that even extraordinary challenges can be overcome. Rescuers want this to serve as a reminder that the safety of our four-legged friends comes first - whether that's closing windows or securing exits to avoid unwanted adventures. We wish Queeny a speedy and peaceful home! You can also read more details about the rescue on the RTL Nord website.
