There has been another break-in in Wülfingen, which has put residents on alert. Unknown perpetrators violently entered a single-family home in Schierkamp between Thursday, July 10th, 3:00 p.m. and Friday, July 11th, 11:15 a.m. According to Tixio, the burglars tore out the shutter of a window and broke the window to get inside. The value of the stolen property has not yet been determined.
The Hildesheim police station has started the investigation and is calling on the public to help. Information can be passed on directly to the police station in Hildesheim.
Burglary protection made easy
The darker season is just around the corner, and burglars are taking advantage of the early darkness for their criminal activities. The Hildesheim police station is therefore planning increased control and prevention measures in the city and district. Foot patrols and public speeches will begin in Hildesheim on Wednesday. According to Presseportal, information flyers on the subject of burglary protection are also distributed, which should help citizens to better protect themselves.
The police give some practical tips to protect your own home:
- Haus- und Wohnungstüren auch bei kurzer Abwesenheit abschließen.
- Fenster und Terrassentüren mit hochwertigen mechanischen Sicherungen sichern.
- Schlüssel nicht draußen verstecken.
- Rollläden nur nachts herunterlassen.
- Lichtquellen mit Zeitschaltuhren nutzen.
- Nachbarn um Aufsicht bitten, wenn man länger abwesend ist.
- Bei Verdacht sofort Notruf 110 wählen.

Current burglary statistics show a worrying trend
According to police crime statistics, the number of residential burglaries in Germany rose sharply in 2023 - with around 77,800 burglaries, which corresponds to an increase of 181 percent compared to the previous year. Most burglaries occur during the day between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., with the risk being particularly high in the fall and winter months, as emergency call experts report.
This makes it all the more important to invest in mechanical security and modern security technology such as alarm systems and video surveillance, as almost every second break-in attempt fails because the perpetrators take too long to get into the house. The police and security consultants recommend constant preventive measures in order to protect your own home as best as possible.
