Theft in the thermal brine bath: witnesses urgently wanted!

Yesterday evening, August 30, 2025, an incident occurred in the thermal brine bath in Salzgitter-Bad, alarming the local community. A theft was reported there between 7:20 and 8:30 p.m. As regionalheute.de reports, a previously unknown perpetrator stole a gold iPhone 16 Pro Max and a bank card from a bag in the changing area of the pool.

The incident raises questions not only about safety at a popular recreational destination, but also about citizens' general sense of security. The Salzgitter-Bad police have already started investigations and are calling on the public to report any suspicious observations. Information can be forwarded to the police on 05341/825-0.

The frequency of thefts

It is not the first time that citizens in Salzgitter-Bad have been confronted with theft. According to a study by protectionone.de, theft was the most frequently recorded crime in Germany in 2018 and 2019, which worries many people. The share of theft in the total number of crimes was just under 35% in 2018 and around 34% in 2019 - an expression of the increasing crime in many German cities.

In recent weeks there have been a number of other incidents in Salzgitter-Bad that show that the city is not the only one affected by this problem. For example, on Friday, June 13, 2025, a flower box worth around 50 euros was stolen from a practice and on the same night various tools and vehicle parts worth around 485 euros were stolen from an unlocked garage. Here too, the police are asking for information from the public, as news.de reports.

The continuous thefts show that a good knack for security measures is required in public. It remains to be hoped that increased police presence and the help of citizens will bring greater security back to the streets of Salzgitter-Bad. Every tip can be crucial and possibly lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
