Nine-year-old Elia delights the audience at the Salzgitter awards ceremony!
What's going on in Salzgitter? On October 5th, the popular “Bunte Sole” prize was once again presented, an award that has been honoring people who are committed to diversity and integration in the city since 2013. The evening was marked by touching moments, including the powerful speech of a nine-year-old boy named Elia, who touched the hearts of the audience with his speech on the topic of cohesion and peaceful coexistence. “Don’t exclude anyone, whether you’re wearing fancy football boots or not,” says Elia. The boy's honest words caused thunderous applause and a standing ovation in the hall. This shows how important the topic of integration is in the city and how much it affects the citizens.
The “Bunte Sole” aims to honor both outstanding projects and everyday gestures that strengthen togetherness in Salzgitter. The award ceremony takes place annually and the prize is endowed with 2,000 euros. It can be awarded to individuals, groups or clubs. In order to continue to reward outstanding achievements in the future, all Salzgitter residents are invited to submit suggestions for future award winners. The deadline for this always ends on August 29th.
Application process and jury
To submit a nomination, citizens can contact the Social Planning and Integration Department or the Citizens' Service for Migrants directly. An independent jury decides on the awarding of the prize. The event itself not only offers an awards ceremony, but also a colorful evening program with artists from the fields of dance, comedy and singing. Entry to this event is free, so everyone has the opportunity to take part in this celebration of diversity.
The Integration Department in Salzgitter plays an important role in supporting and promoting integration projects. It offers information and consulting services on integration-relevant topics and has the task of networking various actors in the city administration. The aim is to bundle measures for the benefit of everyone involved and to plan them together at the local level. The focus here is on teaching language skills as well as access to education and the job market.
If you would like to submit suggestions or find out more about the Integration Department, you can find further information on the City of Salzgitter website. The department carries out networking work and actively promotes cultural diversity that is based on mutual needs and universal values.
