Dariam from Uelzen, who secured a mountain bike, was particularly pleased, which is available in stores for around 300 euros - a real bargain!

The auction was not without surprises: a visitor recognized a bike as its property during the auction and withdrew it, which made the dynamic mood of the event even increasing. This type of auction events is not only a way to bring bicycles under the people, but also contributes to order in the city.

How does the auction actually work?

The legal framework for such auctions is clearly regulated. According to the provisions, valuables over 10 euros must be submitted in the lost property office. The city or community becomes the owner of the objects if the lawful owner does not report within six months. Thereafter, the lost property, including bicycles, can be publicly auctioned, whereby the income is flowing into the budget of the community.
