New Schwienau bridge between Stadorf and Linden opened!
In a solemn act, the new Schwienau Bridge between Stadorf and Linden was officially opened on July 2, 2025. The Uelzen district administrator Dr. Heiko Blume cut the shut -off strap and thus released the bridge for traffic. This new building not only comes a month earlier than planned, but also marks a milestone in the rural infrastructure development of the region. Among other things, Schwienau's Mayor Hans-Joachim Bütow and the chairman of the planning committee Rainer Fabel were present, who with praising words for working with the construction companies involved and the district underlined how important this bridge is for the local community.
The construction work, which began on February 3, 2025 with the demolition of the old bridge structure, had become necessary because the former building was no longer viable due to age -related wear. With total costs of around 650,000 euros, 60 percent of which are funded by the state of Lower Saxony, the new bridge offers a wider road that allows agricultural traffic to pass freely. "This is a good piece of infrastructure in the country," said Blume, who praised the smooth construction course and considers the creation of modern traffic relationships in the region to be important.
important steps for rural mobility
The construction work not only included bridge construction, but also extended through civil engineering and road construction work from the town exit of Stadorf to the confluence of the community path to Altenbstorf. District road 12 was completely blocked during this work on both sides of the Schwienau, which meant that there was no direct connection between Stadorf, Linden and Altenbstorf during the construction period. Departments were necessary and led over the state road 233. Pedestrians had to do without a crossing during the entire construction period, which was made more difficult by the difficult circumstances.
The importance of this bridge extends over the pure flow of traffic. As part of a sustainable mobility project by the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV), a guideline was developed, which offers municipalities practical solutions for rural areas. The goal is to combine different means of transport sensibly and also to promote alternatives such as car and bicycle sharing as well as citizen buses. This is where the new bridge of region development benefits by supporting rural mobility offers.
"In rural areas, the car is often the most important means of transportation. However, we have to promote the diversity of the means of transport," said Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder, who emphasizes that a realistic transport policy should take into account both urban and land needs. For example, multimodal and intermodal mobility concepts are the keys to a future -oriented traffic infrastructure. If the bridge now fulfills its function, further measures can be initiated to improve traffic conditions - a challenge that the region wants to master with flying colors.
The official opening of the Schwienau Bridge is therefore not only a new section in the transport infrastructure, but also shows how important cooperation and planning are in rural regions. A lot is on the move here, and the future of mobility will continue to gain drive - hopefully also for the benefit of all residents in Uelzen and the surrounding area.
