Pleiß' comeback is exciting: Rasta Vechta triumphs against Hamburg!

In an exciting return to German basketball, Tibor Pleiß (36) has taken the step back into the Easycredit BBL after 13 years abroad. How Picture reports, the 2.21 meter tall center made his comeback at SC Rasta Vechta. In the first game after the international break, the team defeated Veolia Towers Hamburg 97:95 after overtime. This happened 4,928 days after his last Bundesliga game, making this return a special event.

Pleiß, who was born in Bergisch Gladbach, began his professional career with RheinEnergie Köln in 2006 and has since shone in several top European leagues as well as in the NBA. He crowned his career with two Euroleague titles and became German champion three times. In his first game for Rasta Vechta he had a solid performance and scored seven points, where he particularly stood out for his defensive presence. “It’s fun to be part of a team again,” said Pleiß and thanked his father for the support during his basketball training in Cologne.

A record game in Vechta

Tevon Brown (27) also attracted particular attention, scoring an impressive 46 points - 43 of them in the second half. With this, or to put it another way, he not only set a personal record, but also a new Rasta record. Captain Benedikt Turudic (28) was also enthusiastic about the team's performance and emphasized the team's tireless fighting spirit.

While Pleiß and Brown stole the show, the Hamburg team had to do without Tommy Kuhse (27), who was unable to play due to a thigh injury. Still, the Towers led 34-31 at halftime thanks to a strong performance from newcomer Ross Williams (25), who scored 11 points by halftime.

In the third quarter, Alonzo Verge (27) took the lead for Vechta, which led to an exciting final section. The Hamburg team forced the first extension of the season through Martin Breunig (33), but ultimately had to admit defeat.

A look into the future

The Hamburg Towers now face a challenge as they travel to Israel for an away game on Tuesday where they face Hapoel Jerusalem. This is particularly significant as Hapoel is the first European basketball team to play in Israel again following the Hamas terror attack. The coming games will show whether the Towers can overcome this setback.

Pleiß, who feels at home in Vechta again, proves that even after many years abroad and countless successes, returning to the roots in domestic basketball can bring an exciting turn.

His impressive career in the NBA and European leagues, combined with his national successes, make him one of the most famous faces in German basketball. His return is all the more gratifying, as it is not only important for him personally, but also for the entire league. Stay tuned for more exciting games coming to our basketball community!
