Wagenfeld in the spotlight: pure theater fun and a sense of community!

On October 29, 2025, Wagenfeld, a charming town with almost 7,000 inhabitants in the Diepholz district, was particularly in focus. The idyllic location between picturesque moors and floodplains as well as historical buildings such as the Auburg makes this place an attraction for both locals and visitors. The sense of community is very important here, and the leisure opportunities are varied and exciting.

Particularly noteworthy is the Wagenfeld open-air stage, which shone on Saturday evening with the premiere of the tabloid piece “Suur Tieden – Störm in’t Gurkenglas”. Around 200 guests came to see the amateur players, who have been delighting audiences since 1962. The stage was transformed into a marina and created the feeling of a special evening with the yacht “Wilma”. Heino Bultmann, who returned to the stage after a break of several years, played the role of the butler Jonas Royal - a homage to the popular classic “Dinner For One”. The play, written by Andreas Wening, consists of three acts and impresses with simple but clever details, such as serving the aperitif in toothbrush cups.

Diverse leisure options

In addition to the open-air stage, Wagenfeld offers a number of other leisure activities. Visitors can look forward to cultural events in the Auburg or visit the nearby zoo. Sports enthusiasts have the choice between eight football pitches, three sports halls and a swimming pool. There is even a speedway track for motorsport fans.

The gastronomy in Wagenfeld is also worth a visit: a brewery with its own beer invites you to enjoy the regional cuisine and celebrate the community with a freshly tapped drink. And as soon as you enter the place, you immediately feel the warm togetherness and the diverse culture that makes this place one of the best places in the world, as ndr.de reports.

Upcoming events

Wagenfeld remains active on the cultural map. The next performances of the piece “Suur Tieden” are scheduled for July 6th, July 9th and July 10th, 2025. The open-air stage in Bökendorf also has a lot to offer: The premiere of “Die Judenbuche” will take place on November 21st, 2025, while the musical Waldbühne Melle will take the stage with “Frau Holle” on November 15th. Wagenfeld, with its colorful mix of culture, community and beautiful nature, has definitely established itself as a place that both locals and visitors love.
