Construction work and accidents: A7 causes chaos in Schleswig-Holstein!
There are currently a number of developments in Schleswig-Holstein that affect drivers and nature lovers alike. From Friday, October 23, 2025, at 10 a.m., the A7 towards Flensburg will be single-lane for one week. The reason for this is construction work near Henstedt-Ulzburg in the Segeberg district. What is particularly important to note is the closure of the Quickborn junction heading north, which will last until Monday morning. Diversion is recommended via the A1, A21 and B206 to avoid the expected traffic problems, as NDR reports.
But things aren't just happening on the streets. In a traffic accident on Neumünsterstrasse in Wahlstedt, a 71-year-old pedestrian was hit by a 65-year-old driver. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries, while the driver only suffered minor injuries. The investigation into negligent bodily harm is already underway.
Traffic situation on the A7
The A7 remains one of the most important north-south connections in Germany, but the traffic situation is currently tense. Information from stau-a7.de show that there are several traffic jams, including between Feuchtwangen/Crailsheim and Kreuzfeld in the direction of Würzburg, where there is a delay of up to 46 minutes.
- Aktuelle Staus:
- A7: Hamburg Richtung Hannover – langsamer Verkehr zwischen Soltau und Rummelsburg, Verzögerung: 10 Minuten.
- A7: Flensburg Richtung Hamburg – Stau zwischen Hamburg und Schnelsen ohne Verzögerung.
- A7: Ulm Richtung Würzburg – Stau zwischen Kurzmandl und Kurzmandl, Verzögerung: 5 Minuten.
Traffic volumes are expected to remain high until next weekend as construction work is taking place on various sections at the same time. The areas around Kassel and Göttingen are particularly affected, where various exits and entrances are closed, as verkehrslage.de reports.
Environmental protection and exciting initiatives
A new research project in Königsmoor, which aims to accelerate moor growth by planting peat moss, sheds a positive light. Here, the universities of Greifswald and Rostock are working together with the Nature Conservation Foundation to sustainably improve the environment, which will certainly bring joy to local nature lovers.
In another great example of charitable commitment, kayak paddlers in Schleswig-Holstein collected over a ton of garbage from the waters, of which 690 kg in Flensburg and 670 kg in Lübeck alone. Such initiatives are not only important for the environment, they also show how each individual can make a contribution.
The weekend report is rounded off with a look at the football enthusiasm in Kiel, where there is an exciting duel between Holstein Kiel and VfL Bochum on Saturday. 14,500 fans are expected and a special choreography is planned to mark the club's 125th birthday.
The outlook for the weather in Schleswig-Holstein brings a lot of clouds and possible thunderstorms, as well as temperatures between 13 and 16 degrees. A moderate to fresh wind could make temperatures more sensitive, particularly in the North Sea where stormy gusts are expected.
