Youth in Elmshorn wins again: FFE wins Fairtrade prize!
On December 5, 2025, the prizes for outstanding commitment were awarded at the district youth ring's volunteer day in Barmstedt. The focus was particularly on the Future and Engagement Prize 2025, which the youth of the FFE Elmshorn accepted for the second time in a row for their project “Kofferball”. This project is dedicated to combining sport and environmental protection in the FAIRTRADE town of Elmshorn and aims to promote fair trade, particularly in the areas of sports accessories and clothing. That's what she reports SHZ.
The “Suitcase Ball” project relies on the use of fairly produced sports materials, with the ball manufacturer BADBOYZ and the Alliance 1.Welt providing significant support, particularly by providing the balls and researching responsible supply chains. The young people are already looking forward to the further development of the project, which is planned for 2026 and includes a new educational program.
Insight into the future
With the motto “FFE sets a school”, the initiative will activate families and establish ball sports in the region. Preparations for various activities are already in full swing and the idea of combining sport and environmental commitment is well received by the young people. It will be exciting to see how the grassroots movement will continue to grow and what impact it can have on the community.
Outstanding projects from other organizations were also recognized as part of the volunteer day. A notable winner of the audience award of the German Engagement Prize 2025 was the Ahmadiyya Muslim Peace Cycling Club from Cologne. With their project “The Blue Angels of Peace” they were able to collect 11,407 votes through online voting and show how peaceful coexistence can be promoted through creative actions and dialogue between different cultures. This award emphasizes the importance of social commitment and encourages people to think about their own actions. You can find more information about this on the official website German Commitment Award.
A strong sign of community
In the overall vote, the audience award race clearly showed that social cohesion and the commitment of citizens are firmly anchored. Even though the Ahmadiyya Muslim Peace Cycling Club was at the top, the association Dup15q e.V. received valuable recognition in the form of prize money for their commitment with 10,863 votes, while the Animal Welfare Association Koblenz and Surroundings e.V. took third place.
In total, over 100,000 votes were cast for almost 400 nominated projects, which reflects the high level of participation and broad interest in social initiatives. The best projects were invited to a celebratory awards ceremony in Berlin that celebrates the diversity of committed work in Germany.
In any case, it is encouraging to see that the young people from Elmshorn not only win prizes with their commitment, but also make a valuable contribution to a fair and environmentally conscious sports culture. This shows that despite all the commitment, a heart beats for justice and shared responsibility.
