Köllner Chaussee: Residents fight against dangers and cracks!

In the municipality of Kölln-Reisiek, the Köllner Chaussee is not particularly impressive due to its condition. The renovation of this important traffic artery, which is part of the K10, which has been sought for years, has so far failed to materialize. Despite repeated requests from the community to repair the sewer system under the road, the excavators have not yet arrived. Meanwhile, other roads in the region are being rehabilitated, and residents' patience is being tested.

“It’s high time something happened here,” complains a resident who suffers from vibrations caused by heavy traffic. These are now leading to cracks in their house, a situation that has alarmed the local council led by Michael Lühn (CDU). He reports high construction costs and a lack of an action plan for Köllner Chaussee. The Pinneberg district is aware of the dilapidated situation, but its priorities are currently different. The resources are tied up for other urgent infrastructure measures.

Important road projects in the region

The district has numerous other construction sites in its sights, including the complete renovation of the K6 between Hasloh and Tangstedt and the urgently needed renovation of the K12 between Bullenkuhlen and Pinneberger Landesstraße. Another construction site, the K22 between Uetersen and Tornesch, is also being planned. A glimmer of hope for residents is Wittenberger Straße, where construction work will begin on November 3rd, as this stretch is also badly damaged.

Nevertheless, it remains unclear when the renovation and the associated consequential damage to the K10 and Köllner Chaussee will finally be tackled. Kölln-Reisiek is calling for clear funds for renovation as well as a binding timetable in the next district budget. Until then, a speed limit of 30 km/h could be imposed along Köllner Chaussee in order to increase the safety of road users. In addition, the manhole covers in the road still represent a danger point, which made urgent sewer renovation necessary.

Investment needs nationwide

What will the future of Köllner Chaussee look like? Citizens are waiting for an answer and hope for renovation work to be carried out soon, which would not only significantly improve their quality of life, but also safety on the streets.
