Reading club in the Green Villa: fun and education for the whole family!

An exciting offer for families and children has been established in Elmshorn: the FTSV Fortuna Elmshorn reading club in the green villa, located at Agnes-Karll-Allee 15. Here, bookworms big and small can immerse themselves in the world of books every Wednesday and Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. And that's not all!

The reading club opens its doors not only to avid bookworms, but also to gaming enthusiasts. Various books and games are offered to read and try out. Exercise is also not neglected: activities such as running, reading, arithmetic, jumping and singing ensure that the children absorb information well. Creative painting and design is also an integral part of the program. This is where the fun of learning comes in!

The reading club aims to not only awaken children's love of reading, but also to promote social interactions. Children from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds in particular should benefit from this offer. According to the Reading Foundation, almost 85,000 children in Germany took part in such initiatives that lead to more motivation to read in the first ten years of the “Culture Makes You Strong. Alliances for Education” funding program. The reading clubs should be an inviting place that offers colorful, comfortable seating and a variety of media to enable leisurely browsing and borrowing Reading Foundation reported.

The Fortuna Elmshorn reading club is an outstanding example of how education takes place in a relaxed atmosphere. A highlight is the “flying reading club”, which travels to various events. Interested children and young people have the opportunity to volunteer and thus take an active part in what is happening.

A place for everyone

Whether

Young people who want to get active or families who want to spend time together - there is something for everyone! They are particularly proud of the planned events such as the SJK week in the fall in the Hainholz sports hall and the Christmas café in the Ramskamp 2a dance hall. Fun and games are guaranteed here at every opportunity.

In addition, the Reading Foundation aims to set up around 400 such reading clubs in Germany by the end of 2027, supported by the BMBF program to provide book treasures and media Leseclubs.de. Volunteers in the clubs can receive compensation and are also supported through regular training.

The next date for interested reading club visitors is August 20, 2025, also from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. With a wide range of offerings, the Fortuna Elmshorn reading club is a great place for children and their families to discover the love of reading together and experience unforgettable moments.
