Flensburg wins in the goal festival: Grgic shines on return to Eisenach!
The spectators experienced a real goal festival last night in the Werner-Aßmann-Halle when SG Flensburg-Handewitt met ThSV Eisenach. Particularly in focus: Returnee Marko Grgic, who was greeted with much applause by his former club before the game. The encounter started promisingly for the guests, who took the initiative with a strong 6-0 defense and took the lead after just a few minutes. Emil Jakobsen, Danish world champion, was in brilliant form and made it 6-2, flashing more than once.
The excitement was constantly noticeable as both teams fought an exciting duel. The ThSV initially found difficulties in defense and conceded 15 goals after 17 minutes. Despite the mistakes and an interim 0:4 run that led to a team timeout by Aleš Pajović, Eisenach fought its way back into the game. Grgic contributed tirelessly to the result and scored 9:6 and later 20:12.
The exciting gameplay
After the first half it was 23:20 for the guests, and the hosts got off to a weak start in the second half. The first goal was scored by Moritz Ende at 21:25. Meanwhile, technical errors from the North Germans brought the Thuringians back into the game, which caused a lot of applause in the hall. But despite all efforts, Eisenach did not get back on track.
In the end, it was the result that counted for the guests. Jakobsen shone with a total of eight goals during the game, and Grgic was also able to boast with his own goal tally of eight goals. The ThSV players had further impressive moments, especially when Peter Walz made people sit up and take notice with a spectacular forearm goal to make it 29:31. But the guests pulled away again in return.
