Large construction project in Flensburg: Restrictions by 2028!

Flensburg, Deutschland - in Flensburg something is happening right now: Stadtwerke and the technology and construction center (TBZ) started the construction work along the street at the Katharinenhof. The large -scale project, which is expected to run by 2028, includes comprehensive renewal of district heating lines, cables and road surfaces. It is planned to widen the sidewalks and to expand the bus stops barrier -free so that all citizens can be easily reached. The first construction phase concerns the section between the Bauer Landstrasse and the Ramsharde school, and this is to be completed by October 2025.

Caution, road users! Road traffic is restricted in the affected area: if you come from the south to the intersection from Bauer Landstrasse, this cannot be passed. On the other hand, if you come from the north, you can turn right. Deplacements have already been signposted, so that resident residents and commuters are well informed.

construction work on Schleswiger Straße

From October 21st, there will be another construction site hotspot in Flensburg: the renovation of the district heating lines on Schleswiger Strasse between Tegelbarg and the bleach is pending. Stadtwerke Flensburg also have the reins in their hands and do everything they can to complete the work by December 31, 2024. A shift in this construction work is excluded because work in winter is not possible at temperatures below freezing. The traffic redirection will be inevitable for residents and road users.

Particularly important for the passengers of bus line 14: From October 21, this will no longer drive across Schleswiger Strasse. Instead, the line is diverted over the streets to Bleiche and Husumer Straße. Replacement stops are set up on Husumer Straße (Höhe Tegelbarg) and in Munketoft (near the brewery). The municipal utilities ask for understanding for the inconvenience and promise that everything should take place quickly.

on the way to CO₂ neutrality

The construction work is not only geared towards the immediate improvements of the infrastructure, but also part of a larger plan: Flensburg wants to achieve CO₂-neutral district heating by 2035, ten years earlier than legally required. This requires a fundamental change in energy generation from fossil fuels to renewable and climate -friendly energy sources. In order for the municipal utilities to achieve these promising goals, infrastructural adjustments are necessary, which include the modernization and expansion of the district heating network. These measures are all part of the transformation plan of municipal utilities for climate -friendly heat supply.

For everyone who wants to learn more about the current construction projects, the information on the website of Stadtwerke Flensburg is always available. In times when we all want to contribute to climate protection, such projects are more important than ever. Flensburg shows a good hand here and invests in a sustainable future.
