Hanover's U23 and U19: Brilliant victories at the end of the year!

An exciting day for the Hannover 96 youth teams! At today's matchday, December 6th, 2025, both the U23 and U19 of Hannover 96 were able to delight the fans with impressive performances.

The U23s played against Weiche Flensburg in the Regionalliga Nord and triumphed 4-1. Let's start right away: In the third minute, Noah Engelbreth decided to convert a penalty, but the ball went wide. Less than two minutes later, Engelbreth was unstoppable and took the early lead to 1-0 after Tim van den Heuvel precisely delivered a free kick into the box. Weiche Flensburg equalized in the 32nd minute through Faleu, but Jonas Vogel put the U23s back in front just five minutes later when he made it 2-1.

An exciting finish

Engelbreth had to be replaced at half-time due to a head injury, but that didn't bother the team. In the 74th minute Meusel increased the score to 3-1 and shortly before the end Walbrecht secured the final 4-1 victory in the 90th minute after another free kick cross from Abdullatif. With this success, the U23 finished the first half of the season in a respectable 6th place in the table with 28 points.

Also in action today was the U19 from Hannover 96, who played against Blumenthaler SV in the DFB youth league group game and celebrated an impressive 7-0 win. Already in the first minute, Robin Stolpe set the first tone with the 1-0. His teammate then managed to significantly improve the goal difference: Stolpe made it 2-0 in the 13th minute, followed by Joschua Siewert, who increased it to 3-0 in the 30th minute.

A round with records

The U19, which plays in the highest German league for A-juniors, the U19-DFB-Nachwachsenliga, was able to take second place in the preliminary round with 26 points. In this 2024/25 season, which will be held for the first time, the German A-junior champion will be determined at the end of the season. 1. FC Köln is currently the title winner, while record goalscorer Iaia Danfa has already scored 39 goals. The U19s can be happy to do so well in this strong competition.

Jasper Reinhold, Ahlberg and his teammates played great; Ahlberg crowned his performance with an impressive hat trick: He increased the score to 5-0 in the 54th minute, added his second goal in the 57th minute and made it 7-0 in the 65th minute. The performance not only gives hope for a promising second half of the season, but also shows the great potential in this talented team.
