Heat wave is coming: summer temperatures of up to 40 degrees in Germany!

The weather in Germany changed quite a bit on June 28, 2025. While the night in Bremen is very cloudy and dry, Konstanz is clear and relatively free of precipitation. At night the temperatures drop to 15°C in Stuttgart, 19°C in Leipzig and Berlin. If you look at Rostock, you can expect light clouds and dry weather on Sunday, while summer cheerfulness is also expected in Augsburg. In the coming days, meteorologists are also reporting a heat wave that will spread across the country.

The forecasts are correct: On Sunday, for example, temperatures between 30 and 32 degrees are expected in the south of the country, while in Flensburg there will be a pleasant high of 19 degrees. In Rostock it gets up to 20 degrees warm. According to current data from the German Weather Service (DWD), there will be both high heat and spectacularly beautiful summer days to enjoy in the near future. The heat wave could even reach peaks of almost 40 degrees, as the weather forecast from Wetteronline shows.

Preparing for the heat wave

Dry weather will continue on Monday, June 29th. Temperatures rise to 24 to 28 degrees in the north and even reach up to 35 degrees in the southern regions. Thunderstorms and cooler air are not expected until after midweek at the earliest - until then it will remain hot and sunny. Record temperatures are possible across the country, especially in the coming week. The values could be loud ZDF be between 33 and 37 degrees. However, a drop in temperature of around 10 degrees is in sight for the north and west, which could be a welcome cooling effect.

The DWD's warnings about extreme heat should be taken seriously: There are two warning levels. Level 1, the severe heat load, emphasizes that high temperatures during the day promise little cooling at night. In addition, older people and risk groups are advised to avoid the heat and drink enough fluids. In level 2, extreme heat exposure, the recommendations are similar, but with a particular focus on vulnerable. Caution is therefore advised for everyone - especially because the number of hot days in Germany is now around twelve, which represents a drastic increase compared to the 1950s and 1960s, when there were only four hot days per year on average.

A look at the coming days

While the heat wave spreads over the next few days, there will be as little wind as possible across Germany with light to fresh gusts in Rostock. A popular holiday and excursion destination could prove to be good business in this summer wave, because pleasant temperatures of around 20 degrees are expected, especially in coastal regions, such as the North Sea.

The next few days could offer us a wide range: hot days, occasional clouds and, above all, lots of sun. To have a successful summer, we recommend making good use of your time outdoors, but specifically avoiding the hot hours in the afternoon. Until the middle of the week, good skills are required not only for outdoor planning, but also for health!
