Lena Mahrt: Your music inspires Flensburg and the whole world!
A very special woman has conquered a permanent place for herself in the colorful music scene of northern Germany: Lena Mahrt. The singer, born in Flensburg in 1984, has been musically active since early childhood with her North German charm. She was already fascinated by her voice in kindergarten and school, which led her to early singing lessons in preparation for the big stages. Her musical activities ranged from demos for the “Bandland” music school to numerous performances with various bands.
The first successes were not long in coming. Under the stage name “Rokkha” she had a hit with the cover song “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, which reached number 13 in Germany and was also very popular internationally. These previous successes motivated Lena not only to focus on the techno genre, but also to tackle diverse music projects. And so she not only took part in a duet with Dominic Saleh-Zaki, which reached number 22 in the charts, but also founded the girl band "Mayor's Destiny", which released the single "Cross Your Heart", even though it only reached number 53 in the charts.
From the band to school
Although Lena decided to train as a hairdresser at the age of 20, she didn't let go of music. In 2011 she took the next step and opened her own singing school “Voicebeats” in Flensburg. The school quickly became popular and attracted many singers who were eager to learn. In addition to her career as a teacher, Lena also appeared in social projects and plays, reaching a particular highlight with the composition of the anthem “Between Heaven and Fjord” for the image campaign “Flensburg loves you”.
In recent years, Lena has not only continued to pursue her artistic career, but also expanded her offerings. During the Corona pandemic, she created the choir “Dein Chor” and not only offers singing lessons in her rehearsal room, but is also active as a speaker for private weddings. The fact that music remains with her throughout her life is also evident in her current collaboration with Ingo Obermöller, an experienced guitarist with whom she has performed successfully as a duo for several years. The shared musical path between Flensburg and Hamburg is another example of Lena's commitment and creativity.
A life for music
Music is not only Lena's job, but also her life. She continually tries out new musical projects, often in collaboration with colleagues from the jazz and chanson sector. Lena is married and mother of three daughters: Emma, Ewa and Ella. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that she is a true all-rounder who constantly reaches new heights.
