Nele in the kitchen duel: Does the dinner really taste good? Points and criticism!
What's going on in Flensburg? Day two of the cooking show “The Perfect Dinner” is coming up, and 24-year-old Nele, a passionate student teacher, has prepared a special menu. Your culinary theme: A homage to the wonderful holiday region of Istria. But the taste impressions of their guests couldn't be more different.
Nele's table is joined by Frank (59), who expresses his dislike for Mediterranean food, Kim (29), who is open to new experiences, Jan (38), who acts as a critic, and Sandra (37), who has the most praise for the dishes. Visibly excited, Nele presents a starter of shrimp on a skewer, garnished with tomato and white wine stock and served with a home-baked sourdough baguette.
Criticism and praise
But not all guests are enthusiastic. Right from the start, Frank expresses his dislike for Mediterranean delicacies, including antipasti and olives. He sticks with it and wishes for a simple tomato soup instead, while Jan criticizes the simple table decorations and Nele only awards five points. For Sandra, however, the pasta, a veal ragout with homemade fuži and parmesan chips, is “perfectly al dente”.
The dessert, a tempting chocolate cake with a lava center and truffle ice cream, also causes controversial opinions. Kim criticizes that the ice cream has the “sand in the mouth” effect and that the cake does not have the lava core that was promised. In the end, Frank Nele gives 8 out of 10 points, which gives the host a total of 29 points - just one point less than the critic himself.
Istria on a plate
Nele’s menu delves deep into the culinary world of Istria, a region known for its excellent fish and seafood. There are a number of restaurants from Istria that you should definitely visit. It is one of the top 1,000 restaurants worldwide, as the list from insiderei.com reveals.
Another insider tip is the Monte restaurant in Rovinj, which was the first in Istria to be awarded a Michelin star. Here, chef Danijel Dado Đekić relies on local ingredients and creates creative dishes. Of course, the coastal restaurant SV Nikola in Poreč should not go unmentioned. Not only does it offer delicious Croatian and Italian cuisine, but it also boasts one of the best views in the region.
