New assistant coach Simon Hennig: A Flensburg dream comes true!
The SG Flensburg-Handewitt welcomes a new assistant coach who wants to whirl with fresh vigor and extensive experience in the handball Bundesliga. Simon Hennig, a well -known face in Flensburg, will be active from coach Aleš Pajović from the coming season. In this role he replaces the outgoing assistant coach Anders Eggert and brings an impressive portfolio of skills.
At just 33 years old, Hennig already has a colorful career at the SG. He has been part of the association since 1998, has gone through all youth teams and most recently worked as a sporting director at the SG Flensburg Academy. His knowledge of the club internal youngsters will benefit him to beat the bridge between the juniors and the professionals, such as fla.de.

Hennig not only left its mark in the academy, but also as a coach of the A-youth and working with kindergarten children and primary school. "It stands on the sidelines of my club with pride," reveals Hennig and sees his new role as a fulfillment of a dream. The backing of SG managing director Holger Glandorf and those responsible for the youth academy also leaves room for positive expectations. "Everyone will benefit", he is certain.
In his new position, Hennig will not only work more intensively with the professionals, but will continue to act as a coach of the U19. In this way, it remains deeply rooted in the action and can significantly strengthen the communication between the resolutions and professional sectors. This connection is not only important for hennig, but also for the future of the association, since it better understands what the professionals need to be successful.
A look at the future
Part of Hennig's tasks will be to actively participate in training and to support the coach in analyzing games, which also includes the processing of statistics. He has already conducted talks with Ljubomir Vranjes, the sporting director, about closer cooperation, which further strengthens the promotion in the coaching team. "The profile in youth handball remains," explains Hennig, who looks optimistically into the future.
While Hennig takes on his new role, a DHB certificate training for young coaches, which has been taking place in Potsdam since Whit Monday, is running in parallel. This further training aims to optimally secure the training of talented players and to adapt the trainer qualifications to the increasing requirements in handball.
