VOX changes program after rampage: Graz episodes temporarily deleted
In a notable programming change, the television station VOX has canceled the episodes of the popular cooking show “The Perfect Dinner” from Graz that were scheduled for the beginning of July. On the occasion of a tragic school shooting in Graz in which ten people lost their lives on June 10th, the station showed respect for the victims and their families with this decision. The Graz episodes were originally supposed to be broadcast from June 30th to July 4th at 6 p.m., but instead episodes from Flensburg will now be shown in which five amateur chefs - Jan, Nele, Frank, Sandra and Kim - present their culinary arts at 7 p.m. This reports Mercury.
The decision to postpone the Graz episodes indefinitely was confirmed by the broadcaster. The rampage, which took place in just seven minutes and was carried out by a former student, shocked not only Graz but all of Austria. Nine young people between the ages of 14 and 17 and a teacher were killed in this terrible act. The perpetrator, armed with several firearms, committed suicide after the crime, and eleven other people had to be treated for serious injuries. According to the treating doctors, the health condition of the injured is stable Ruhr24 reported.
Consideration of the events
With the program change, VOX is showing a sensitive feel for the current events in Graz. Many viewers and fans of the series were excited about the upcoming episodes in which the Austrian amateur chefs wanted to prepare their favorite dishes. The Graz episodes, which have now been postponed indefinitely, are scheduled to be broadcast at a later date, without a date having already been set.
In the meantime, the program will continue with the Flensburg episodes. Here the candidates also cook for the favor of the jury and audience, with the recording being broadcast as usual in the evening. Other TV channels have also reacted to the sad events and adapted their evening programs. News formats and special programs about the rampage can be seen on many channels, such as Digital television reported.
Overall, it shows that television is more than just entertainment. In times like these, it becomes clear how important it is to show empathy and be considerate of the people affected and society. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families as the program is temporarily adapted to reality.
