VOX puts an end to the Graz episodes: respect after the rampage in Austria

The shocking events of June 10th, when a school shooting in Graz had tragic consequences, have now also influenced the program of the Cologne TV station VOX. Ten people were killed in this violent act, including nine teenagers and a teacher. Eleven other people were injured, some of them seriously. The entire case also caused great consternation in the media and resulted in numerous programs. In order to show respect for the victims and their families, the broadcaster has removed the episodes of “The Perfect Dinner” that were originally scheduled for the end of June from the program. This is reported by [ksta.de](https://www.ksta.de/panorama/vox- Nimm-komplette-das-perfekte-dinner-woche-aus-dem-programm-1045975).

The Graz episodes of the cooking show, which were originally supposed to be broadcast from June 30th to July 4th, are now in jeopardy. A spokeswoman for VOX confirmed that the already completed production of the Graz episodes will be rescheduled at a later date. The decision to change the program comes not only as a surprise, but also as a clear reaction to the tragic circumstances that have befallen Austria. A new broadcast date has not yet been set, but the cooking show will continue to be broadcast at the usual broadcast time from Monday to Friday at 7 p.m.

New content from Flensburg

Instead of the Graz episodes, VOX will broadcast episodes that have already been produced from Flensburg in which the candidates Jan, Nele, Frank, Sandra and Kim demonstrate their culinary skills. These programs should flicker across the screens from June 30th and still please viewers. In the coming week from June 16th to 20th, the format will continue in Bonn, where candidate Niklas has already caused a stir with an ambitious menu. He accompanied the first episode with a lot of praise from his fellow contestants.

The decision underlines the great responsibility that television broadcasters bear in such times. Other major broadcasters have also adapted their programming and prepared special programs. Das Erste broadcasts a focus on the crime, while ZDF broadcasts a “ZDF special” with the title “Amoklauf in Graz”. RTL also offers a special format that deals with the events. This shows how deeply the rampage has affected society and what waves it is causing.

The various program changes will raise awareness of what is happening in Graz. The focus is on the numerous people affected and the uncertain future for many victims and their relatives. The industry thus shows that, even in difficult times, it has a feel for what is currently important and has a good knack for appropriate reactions.
