The regional rail lines in Schleswig-Holstein face a real challenge in October and November 2025. Due to extensive construction work by Deutsche Bahn, there are numerous train cancellations, timetable changes and increased rail replacement services. A variety of lines are affected. Among other things, there are failures on the Lübeck – Bad Kleinen – Schwerin – Rostock (RE1/RE2) route on the night of November 5th to 6th. The connections between Hamburg main station and Lübeck (RE8/RE80) and Hamburg main station and Bad Oldesloe (RB81) are also severely restricted from October 24th to November 10th, mainly in the evenings and at night. Further problems are to be expected on the Lübeck – Neustadt route (RB85) on the night of October 31st to November 1st.
Changed timetables and replacement traffic
The Nordbahn and Erixx are also affected. On the Büsum – Heide – Neumünster route (RB63), trains will be canceled on the night of November 2nd to 3rd and from November 9th to 17th. The Nordbahn line from Kiel to Schleswig and from Kiel to Rendsburg (RE74/RB75) must also expect disruptions that will last until November 30th. Users of the Erixx line Kiel – Lübeck – Lüneburg (RE83) will experience restrictions until April 30, 2026, with trains also being canceled between October 30 and November 4.
Commuters should prepare for replacement bus services, especially if trains between Kiel and Neumünster are canceled. On the Kiel and Bordesholm or Kiel and Neumünster lines, the rail replacement service will provide compensation on individual evenings, while during the day some connections can only be offered to a limited extent during the day, according to information from kn online emerges.
