Nils Landgren Funk Unit inspires in Kiel: a summer night dream!

In a rousing concert, the Nils Landgren Funk Unit performed yesterday on the Krusenkoppel open -air stage in Kiel. Even if the amphitheater was only about half full, this did not detract from the mood. Nils Landgren, known as "The Man with the Red Horn", opened the evening with the powerful titles "Unbreakable" and "Doin 'It for the People" and greeted the audience with a warm "Moin!" KN reported that only a few of the guests were present from the previous year. Nevertheless, the musicians showed a remarkable routine and playful mood.

In the center of the band, among other things, the dynamic drummer Robert Ikiz and the bassist Magnum Coltrane Price, which was humorously referred to by Landgren as "low frequency operator - or garbage man". During the concert, Price stayed in front of his box and delivered groovy bass lines. Andy pillar shone with funky guitar cards and caused an atmosphere in the George-Benson style during a solo. Another highlight was Landgrens spontaneous dance performance during a drum solo.

a festival for the senses

The band offered a colorful mix of relaxing jazz and rousing radio. Petter Bergander shone on the keyboards and the Hammond organ, while Jonas Wall spent “Blecherne Battles” on the saxophone with Landgren. A special moment of the evening was the dedication of the instrumental "Rasberry Jam" to the guests who had given the musician jam. Before the break, Landgren asked the audience to dance to "Funky Feet", which was also apparent with some.

After the break, calm jazz tracks like "Friday Night" changed with the energetic radio pieces. Landgren sang the popular "Ain’t Nobody" and mingled with the audience to port the dancers. The concert ended with a standing ovation and the addition "House Party", which made the audience celebrate.

To complete the evening properly, Landgren returned to the stage alone and played the folk song "Ack Värmeland, du Sköna". He combined this in a charming way with allusions to Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", which the audience rewarded with a lot of applause.
