Werder Bremen U17 celebrates victory against Hannover 96 – 3rd place in sight!

Last weekend was a complete success for Werder Bremen's U17 juniors! In the 9th matchday of the DFB youth league on October 27, 2025, they won 2-1 against city rivals Hannover 96. Bremen were able to celebrate goals from Atilgan in the 20th minute and Joel in the 49th minute, while Krasniqi scored the goal for Hannover in the 82nd minute. This victory catapults Werder into third place, level on points with Hannover and Holstein Kiel, who are still one point ahead of them. Their next match is on November 1st, when they play against Holstein Kiel. Werder Bremen reports from the pleasant atmosphere after the game.

But it's not just the U17s who are celebrating, the U19s also had a hectic match day, which ended with less success. In their 10th matchday they suffered a 1-2 defeat against Holstein Kiel. While Zöllner and Ossadnik scored for Kiel in the first half of the game, it was Kloppenburg who scored the only goal for Bremen. The U19 players will now have to wait for three weeks for positive feedback, as they have treated themselves to a well-deserved break from playing and will take part in test matches during this time.

U16 and U15 in balance

Werder Bremen's U16 juniors were also able to show a remarkable performance on match day, with the match against Niendorfer TSV ending in a 2-2 draw. Engel scored Niendorfer's goals in the 30th and 67th minutes, while Lepper and Pastron brought Werder to a 2-2 score. With 11 points, the U16 are in 9th place in the Regionalliga Nord, and their next challenge is expected on November 9th against Blumenthaler SV.

The U15, on the other hand, was less lucky and lost their game against USC Paloma 1:3. Haddou was able to give Werder the lead in the 15th minute, but goals from Nimako, Bernauer and Carstens turned the game in the visitors' favor. With this defeat, the U15 are also in 9th place, but still have the chance to prove themselves in the upcoming game against SC Borgfeld on November 1st.

A look into the international football world

With a wealth of young talent, the world of football never stops. In a global context, in the not too distant future is the FIFA U-17 World Cup tournament, which will take place in Qatar from November 3rd to 27th, 2025. Wikipedia explains that the tournament, which was originally launched in 1985 as the U-16 World Cup, has since developed into a significant showcase for young football talent. This year, 48 teams are taking part, divided into 12 groups, followed by the knockout round.

For the USA, who are now taking part in the U-17 World Cup for the 19th time, coach Gonzalo Segares has named his squad of 21 players. US Soccer reports, that the team will face Burkina Faso, Tajikistan and the Czech Republic in their group stage. The players, many of them from Major League Soccer clubs, have great talent and could conquer the game's biggest stages in the future.

In this exciting time in football, we hope that the young talents in Bremen and nationwide can continue to shape their development positively. Good luck to all teams!
