Running highlights 2025: Schleswig-Holstein calls for sporting adventures!
Attention sports enthusiasts! The summer of 2025 will be a real highlight for running and triathlon fans in Schleswig-Holstein. The region, which lies between the North and Baltic Seas, offers a wide range of events. Whether it's 5-kilometer runs for beginners or challenging ultra runs - there's something for everyone here. Loud NDR The sporting summer starts with the Holstenkösten Run in Neumünster on June 13th, followed by the Heider Evening City Run on the same day.
This is how it continues: the Kiel Courage Run will take place on June 14th, followed by the city runs in Norderstedt, Kappeln and Barmstedt on June 15th. Glinde will also offer a sporting event with the Vabali Sunrise Run. That's not all, the university run in Lübeck follows on June 18th, another highlight in the event calendar. Other events, such as the Glückstädter City-Lauf and the Kiel.Lauf, extend into September.
Triathlons & Marathons
But it's not just running enthusiasts who get their money's worth. Triathlon events are also firmly anchored in the calendar. On June 15th, the 7 Towers Triathlon is on the program in Lübeck, while the Rosenstadt Triathlon takes place in Eutin. Distances of 1.5 km swimming, 108 km cycling and 16 km running are offered.
A special team from Bargteheide took part in the second edition of the “Triathlon between the Seas” on September 17, 2023, in which the participants mastered the competition together in a non-competitive team. As the Schleswig-Holstein Triathlon reports, the event was very popular due to the scenic route and pleasant weather conditions.
Schleswig-Holstein offers some challenging distances for marathon fans. Runners can compete in the Balzburg Marathon on June 29th or the Fehmarn Marathon on September 6th. The Kiel Fjord Marathon will take place on September 27th and the Lübeck Marathon rounds off the marathon season on October 19th.

In total, the region enjoys over 200 running events every year. The most popular events include the Lübeck Marathon, the Flensburg loves you Marathon and the Kiel Run. All of these events show the great enthusiasm for running in Schleswig-Holstein, which is very popular with the participants.
