Fehmarn's new equestrian festival impresses with 450 starts and top-class sport!

The Fehmarnscher Ringreiterverein recently opened a new equestrian facility, which was already impressive at the first major tournament on Friday. With 450 starts from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 210 fully occupied horse boxes, the event was a complete success. [ln-online] reports that the high quality of the tests and the innovative conditions on the Ebbe-Flot course impressed participants and spectators alike. Many show jumpers who had been absent for years returned to compete in this new environment. The old facility on Staakensweg is hardly missed and spectators were able to relax and watch the events on the terrace of the restaurant.

As far as sporting achievements are concerned, Saturday was a highlight for many riders. Hans-Thorben Rüder, a local rider, particularly shone in the S* jumping, which he won twice in the competition. His successes are all the more remarkable as Rüder comes fresh from his triumph at the CSI three-star tournament in Pforzheim, where he won the main competition with his horse “Orlanda”. In addition, Simon Heinecke was very successful, he won the S** show jumping, which counts as a qualification for the German Young Riders Championship.

The big prize and other highlights

Another highlight of the festival will be the Grand Prize of the Stolz department store, worth 10,000 euros. This highlight takes place on Sunday at 3:45 p.m. and promises exciting equestrian sport in class S*** with a jump-off. Sunday starts early with a class M** jumping competition at 8 a.m., where participants can once again demonstrate their skills.

It is clear that there is still a high level of interest in equestrian sports in the broader equestrian community. According to a study by [pferd-aktuell], around 11.2 million people in Germany are interested in horses and equestrian sports. Of these, 2.32 million are active riders. There are around 600,000 households that own horses, which underlines the close connection people have with animals. The German Equestrian Association has 662,926 members and organizes thousands of competitions every year that reflect the diversity and passion of equestrian sport.

Successes at regional level

Fehmarn's riders achieved considerable success at the RuFV Lensahn Epiphany riding tournament. Tabea Johanna Henze became district champion among juniors and young riders, while Astrid Ehler and Inga Czwalina also performed very successfully in various competitions. Ehler won the gold medal in the rider/senior age group, and Czwalina showed her class by taking third place in the S*** jumping. A list of other successes demonstrates how active the riders from Fehmarn are:

Equestrian Result
Tabea Johanna Henze Junior district champion
Astrid Ehler Gold medal in the rider/senior age group
Inga Czwalina Third place in S*** jumping
Hans Thorben Rüder Victories in S* jumping

The opening of the new equestrian center and the ongoing tournaments impressively show that Fehmarn is now a center for equestrian sports that not only promotes talent, but also brings the community together. With an offer like this, one can only hope that it will continue to be so popular.
