Wonderful legends: Experience St. Brandan's trip to Lübeck church!

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, a special exhibition is opened in the Ev. Reformed Church in Lübeck: the legendary pages from the "Great Book of Wonder" by Raimund Pallusseck. This show is a tribute to the fascinating narrative of the monk St. Brandan, which lived in Irish space and is sent on a mystical journey to find the truth according to the Bible. The story begins with Brandan's consequent decision to burn the Bible from which he is promptly challenged by an angel, why he has lost the truth.

The opening at 10 a.m. is managed by Pastor Imke Akkermann-Dorn and accompanied by the Lübeck brass ensemble and the choir 'Methusisti'. The exhibition itself can be visited until September 7th and invites visitors to descend into the world of legend and the deep sense of faith. The magnificent sides of the book each measure 1.80 meters in width and 1.25 meters in height and are a real eye -catcher that fills the entire lower level of the church.

an artist with a maritime background

Raimund Pallusseck, born in Cuxhaven, is deeply influenced by the fascination of the sea. He dreamed of width and freedom early on, which finally made him decide between art and seafaring. In the 1970s, Pallusseck worked as a deck man on a cargo ship before finally devoting himself to art. This maritime connection runs like a thread through his work and is reflected in his longing for adventure and the relentless lake. Works such as the "Logbook of Acardia" and graphics for "Traven's Dead Ship" testify to his passion for the maritime world.

"St. Brandan's miraculous seafaring" will not only set a striking accent culturally, but also artistically. This is the first public exhibition of excerpts of the "Great Book of Miracles", which combines illustrated text and visual representations. The exhibition takes visitors on an exciting journey of discovery.
