Bay of Lübeck: 16 free shaded spots for hot summer days!

A sunny day on the Baltic Sea, and the Lübeck Bay Tourism Agency has now created something very special: the “Shadow Finder Lübeck Bay”. This new offer shows where you can find the best places between Scharbeutz and Rettin to relax outdoors without being exposed to the blazing sun. Loud NDR There are a total of 16 free seats, children's playgrounds and swimming areas available. Each location also comes with a short description of the route so that finding the perfect spot in the shade doesn't become a tedious task.

But that's not all! The TALB invites users to take action: If someone discovers an additional shady spot, they can simply take a photo of it and send it to the agency by email. The possibilities for escaping the heat are constantly growing. And with temperatures up to 26 degrees on the Baltic Sea, this is a welcome refreshment!

Train delays caused by goats and other mishaps

NDR meldet.

But there is also more serious news in the safe context of rail: An accident in Neumünster, in which a man pushed a wheelchair user over a closed level crossing, could lead to proceedings with a fine of up to 380 euros. And there was a serious accident involving four vehicles on the B206, in which twelve people, including several children, were injured. The person who caused the accident, a 45-year-old, ran into oncoming traffic, which led to the road being closed for hours.

Traffic volume and security measures

The marine landscape around Schleswig-Holstein is in slight decline these days: in the first half of the year, 11,417 ships struggled through the Kiel Canal, which is around 1,200 fewer than in the previous year. The cargo transported also fell from 37.6 million tons to 35.9 million tons. A sign that the ports may not be doing quite as well as the orders promise.

And while there are some challenges on the water and the road, the air shouldn't be forgotten either: A fire in the basement of an apartment building in Kiel, where a stroller was possibly deliberately set on fire, called the fire department into action. Fortunately, one resident remained slightly injured.

Sporting successes and critical comments

As far as the sporting events are concerned, the German rowers were able to show an excellent result at the SH Netz Cup in Rendsburg: tens of thousands of people watched the race and were also entertained with a musical supporting program. On the other hand, there are critical voices that criticize the accessibility of the beaches on the North and Baltic Seas, as important information is often missing here.

And while a tragic accident at Glinde marred the day - a 75-year-old woman lost her life in a head-on collision on the K80 - everyday life in Schleswig-Holstein remains characterized by a multitude of exciting but also challenging events.

In terms of weather, the forecasts are positive: on August 11, 2025, people can look forward to lots of sunshine, with temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees. Perfect weather to try out the beautiful new shady spots on the Baltic Sea and unwind!
