Burning garbage cans: Neumünster fire department on a large scale!
On the night of Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, several garbage cans burned in Neumünster, which kept the fire department on tenterhooks. The first alarms were received at 3:15 a.m. when residents on Schützenstrasse, Gartenallee and Hans-Fallada-Strasse discovered the fire. A total of five locations were identified, where nine garbage containers were either completely or partially on fire. The Neumünster fire department quickly deployed around 20 personnel to fight the fire.
The situation was dire, but the fire department had a good hand and was able to quickly bring the flames under control. Fortunately, there were no injuries, only property damage was reported. The fire had already partly spread to adjacent hedges and a small shed, but the emergency services were able to prevent this and stop the spread to surrounding buildings in time. After a little more than an hour, the operation was over and the extinguishing work could be carried out.
Research into causes is ongoing
The incident sites were then handed over to the police, who have now begun an investigation into the cause of the fire. However, there is currently no reliable information about the causes of the fires or the exact amount of damage. The police are asking the public for help and for information that could help clarify the matter.
Fighting fires is always an important topic in Germany. According to various statistics in the field of fire protection, as can be found on FeuerTrutz, there are no comprehensive and uniform fire statistics for the Federal Republic, which makes assessments and preventive measures difficult. Regular updates and community involvement are therefore essential to prevent future incidents and increase safety in our cities.
The situation shows once again how important a well-trained fire department and an attentive public are. Everyone can do their part by reporting suspicious events or helping to prevent fires themselves. Because there's something here: Security begins with each and every one of us.
