Expert Neumünster sold: Meineckes continue tradition!
The changes in retail are noticeable and bring a breath of fresh air to Neumünster. After 72 years in the consumer electronics and electrical appliances trade, the Jensen family of entrepreneurs has sold the long-standing electronics retailer Expert. An important chapter is coming to an end: Kai Jensen, the third generation to run the business, has handed over the reins to the Meinecke family from Uelzen. This acquisition is not only a personal decision, but also part of a larger strategy Expert Hanse Association, which now operates a total of seven Expert stores.
The new owners, Philipp and Peter Meinecke, are convinced that they can continue the company's roots and values, which were founded by Friedrich Jensen in 1953. Kai Jensen sees the Meineckes as suitable successors who will carry on his philosophy. The 20 employees who will keep their jobs during the takeover can also look forward to a secure future.
A long tradition
The company's journey began in 1953 with the founding of the specialist shop “Radio Jensen”. In 1964 the business was moved to Kuhberg 41, where it has been expanded several times since then. In 1965, Fritz Jensen joined the family business and opened the Mega Company specialist store in the 1990s, which later became the Expert brand. The expansion took place during Kai Jensen's management over the last few decades, and the current Expert market in Neumünster opened its doors in the Gadeland district in 2014.
Jensen's decision to sell the business was no coincidence. He plans to get out of brick-and-mortar retail as his children have other plans. His motivation to regain his entrepreneurial spirit motivated him to take the step.
Retail expansion strategies
This takeover is part of the Retail expansion strategies a. According to the recent “Expansion Trends 2025” survey, 61% of retailers plan to expand their branch network, while 17% are considering downsizing. Despite challenges such as high real estate costs and ongoing staff shortages, trust in stationary retail remains high. Philipp Meinecke has this in mind with his takeover of the three locations in Neumünster, Neustadt (Holstein) and Wismar, because he sees this as a great opportunity to ensure reliability for customers and employees.
Stationary retail is faced with the challenge of finding its way in a changing consumer environment. Despite subdued consumer sentiment and internal challenges, the Meineckes believe in the long-term success of their entrepreneurial history and are determined to continue the success story in Neumünster and beyond.
The developments are setting the course for an exciting future – both for customers and for employees. The takeover is therefore not just a simple change of ownership, but a sign of the continued existence of regional trading structures in a constantly changing world.
