Celebrate 25 years of moonlight cinema: cinema magic at the Eider harbor!
Things will soon be happening again in picturesque Tönning on the Eider: the moonlight cinema is celebrating its 25th anniversary! Since its founding in 1999, this event has developed into a cultural highlight in the region. Every year the historic packing house at the harbor is transformed into an open-air cinema stage, and this year it will be exciting again. The annual film evenings always begin at the beginning of August and offer a fine selection of film classics, blockbusters and arthouse films.
The celebratory anniversary events will take place this year from August 7th to 9th, starting at 8 p.m. The films are shown at nightfall, around 9:30 p.m. The planned program for the festival days is promising:
- Donnerstag, 7. August: „Es sind die einfachen Dinge“
- Freitag, 8. August: „Der Buchspazierer“
- Samstag, 9. August: „Mamma Mia“
Tickets and other events
At the moonlight cinema it is said that the tickets are in great demand. Advance sales for tickets are already underway and are available at the Tönning Tourist Information Center and Boye Hamkens. For technology fans there is the online option via Eventim-Light, or you can grab a ticket at the box office. Don't forget not to bring your own food or drinks with you during your visit - the proceeds from the food offer benefit charitable organizations.
But the anniversary celebrations are not just limited to the film evenings: On Monday, August 4th, there will be a free picture book cinema for primary school children in the Tönning city library from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. On the following Tuesday, August 5th, the film “Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran” will be shown in St. Lawrence Church at 3 p.m., including coffee and cake. Voluntary monetary donations for the children's choir are requested here. A grateful Jens Krüger, chairman of the association, highlights the valuable support from volunteers, supporting members and sponsors.
