Hengstmarkt-Neumünster: Top prices and exciting bidding duels!

Like every year, the Trakehner Stallion Market will attract all horse lovers to Neumünster in 2025. On the first weekend of Advent, specifically today, November 29, 2025, the free jumping of the young stallions took place for the first time in the festively decorated Holstenhalle. 35 stallions took part, delighting the spectators with impressive flights of fancy and their good interior. Dr. Hans-Peter Karp and Peter Kunath from the licensing committee were extremely satisfied with the stallion crop, which is promising again this year. The final preparations have been completed and the event, which enters its hot phase at 8:00 p.m. with the auction of approved and non-approved stallions, is in full swing.

The changes in the design of the jumping lane helped the stallions to find their rhythm better and contributed to the overall positive course of the free jumping. The free running of the stallions according to the Dutch model, which took place at 8:30 a.m. and demonstrated cantering and balance, rounded off the program. After the lunch break, the licensing verdicts were announced and not only the best jumping stallion was awarded; Today has already set many highlights.

Auctions in full bloom

The auction of mares and riding horses took place the day before, November 28th, and was very well received. Richard Langels, marketing manager, was pleased with the huge response to the mare collection. The premium and state premium mare Luxus was sold to Hamburg for an impressive 72,000 euros. Her two-year-old daughter Hemera achieved at least 48,000 euros, and the winning mare Florence moved to North Rhine-Westphalia for 45,000 euros.

The most exciting offerings among the riding horses came from a three-year-old premium stallion named Kiano, who was sold for 45,000 euros. The numbers confirm a positive trend: the average price of mares was 28,916 euros, while the average for riding horses was 25,083 euros. Anyone who has a heart for exclusive things certainly appreciated the large selection and the high quality of the horses yesterday.

Horse health and safety

This year, special attention will also be paid to the health data of the horses. X-ray images have been available online since November 17th and clinical examination protocols have been available since November 27th. Anyone interested could use the x-ray inspection times to find out more about the stallions. The insurance for purchased horses, which is automatically activated with the surcharge, offers protection for 8 weeks and covers various aspects such as compensation in the event of death or permanent unusability.

For anyone who wants to do a good deal or has questions about the auction, customer advisors Richard Langels, Laura Sarap, Björn Hanke, Lars Gehrmann and Erhard Schulte are happy to help. In addition, during the auction via the online platform bid.trakehner.auction be offered.

The Trakehner Stallion Market is establishing itself not only as one of the most important events in the region, but also as a showcase for breeders and riders. The success of past auctions, such as that of the top horse “Grace Kelly”, which was auctioned in 2022 for 157,000 euros, speaks for itself.
