Free information event: New timetable for Faldera!

On Monday, June 30, 2025, Stadtwerke Neumünster (SWN) invites you to a free information event for seniors. From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., those interested can find out everything about the innovations in local public transport at the meeting center in Faldera, Wernershagener Weg 41. The focus is particularly on the new timetable for the Tagzone West, which connects the districts of Faldera, Böcklersiedlung and Gartenstadt. Two SWN employees will be on site to answer questions and present the new timetable. There is also support for installing the appropriate app and creating a customer account.

“No registration required,” emphasizes a SWN spokeswoman, but you can call the senior citizens’ office on 04321 942 3486 if you have any questions at any time. This information event is a great opportunity for older citizens to find out about the latest developments in local public transport and to make it easier to use mobility services.

Mobility for all generations

An important aspect that often comes into play when planning mobility for seniors is accessibility. In many regions, care is taken to ensure that public transport is easily accessible. The use of low-floor vehicles, raised curbs and functioning elevators plays a central role in enabling people with limited mobility to get from A to B safely. How ioki reports, short walking distances and a reliable rhythm are particularly important for older people, especially in rural areas.

Another successful example of a modern mobility solution is the Limo service in Lippe. This is an on-demand service that is particularly suitable for seniors. Booking is easy and can be done 30 minutes before departure by phone or via the app. This service is barrier-free and can accommodate up to six people. In addition, seniors can travel with valid tickets such as the Deutschlandticket or MonatTicket without having to worry about additional costs.

This service goes far beyond the usual. The integration of Limo in the Lippe area to almost 200 stops ensures that mobility in rural areas is significantly improved. Seniors can also rely on flexible booking options during operating hours, which are Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Having the right information is crucial

It is also important to disseminate information about new mobility offers. As the Neumünster shows, there are already promising approaches to informing seniors about their mobility options through information events in district or senior citizens' meetings. The simple and user-friendly design of instructions and apps, such as the ioki passenger app, enables older people to use digital solutions without much effort.

Including this target group in transport planning ensures that the offers meet actual needs. Andreas Maatz from the Offenbach district transport company emphasizes that on-demand transport is an excellent solution for older people to promote their freedom of movement and at the same time create acceptance of new technologies.

Overall, it shows that a simple, clear and barrier-free offer can lay a fantastic foundation for the mobility of the older generation. Norman Maatz emphasizes that small but significant changes not only make use easier, but can also significantly improve seniors' quality of life.
