Criticism of the Welcome Center: Madsen demands immediate skilled worker solutions!

Neumünster, Deutschland - Last Thursday, around 170 guests gathered for the 50th local political beer evening of the Mittelholstein company Association (UVM) in Neumünster. Minister of Economics Claus Ruhe Madsen (CDU) was invited as a guest of honor, but this turned out to be a difficult situation. Ulf Michel, the board of directors of the UVM, took the opportunity to significantly criticize the administration and the political situation. A central point of the discussion was the acute lack of qualified work and specialists in Schleswig-Holstein.

Michel made it clear that the existing Welcome Center in Kiel so far not the desired successes achieved in the recruitment of foreign specialists. Instead of communication and effect, which many had hoped for, only five people from 516 consultations successfully went to work in the first year. The costs of the project amount to almost 13 million euros in the first five years, which is why the criticism of various political pages - including the SPD and FDP - was loud.

Criticism of bureaucratic hurdles and lack of support

Although Minister of Economics Madsen tried to present the situation in relapse by pointing out that the Welcome Center acts primarily as a counseling center and no direct mediation was not broken. He called for less bureaucracy and promised to enable faster integration of specialists, even if they may not have comprehensive knowledge of German.

Michel also referred to the long planning times, which can take 15 years even for relatively simple projects such as the construction of a cycle path. Mayor Tobias Bergmann (SPD) was also in the fire line: The planned tax increases in Neumünster caused displeasure among the entrepreneurs present, which in particular put a great strain on small and medium -sized companies.

shortage of skilled workers and demographic challenges

In general, an alarming picture is shown in the labor market. According to the Donitoring of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, massive bottlenecks are expected in many professions in the next few years. Regional differences in demographic change also increase, which particularly affects structural weak areas. In order to address the shortage of skilled workers, Schleswig-Holstein needs 12,000 to 13,000 additional workers every year.

The entrepreneurs present made it clear that the reflective call for tax increases is perceived as inadequate to ensure the urgently needed support for the local labor market. Instead, a comprehensive concept is necessary that strengthens the attractiveness of Schleswig-Holstein as a country of immigration and reduces bureaucratic hurdles.

Overall, it remains to be stated: The rough wind that blew through Neumünster during beer evening shows that there is a need for action. To challenge the framework conditions for companies requires a common effort from politics and business in order to continue to create the best conditions for specialists in the future.
