Neumünster shines: Taekwondo team wins medals at the state championship!
Things were going really well in Neumünster recently: Athletes from Post SV Neumünster showed what they were made of at the state championship. Their impressive maturity, discipline and unwavering fighting spirit captivated not only the spectators, but also the coaches. For many athletes it was the first major competition at the state level and they were able to assert themselves against the supposed favorites or at least shake them up properly. A remarkable achievement that shows that the sport of Taekwondo is on the rise in this country.
Coach Thanh Ho Kim (4th Dan) had prepared the group intensively for this day and was visibly enthusiastic about the results. With a strong team behind them and a clear focus on the upcoming decisions, the athletes tackled their placings. They went into the fights self-confident and motivated, and were able to prevail against higher-rated opponents more than once.
Great results at the national championships
Already at TVBB Masters 2022 - held in Falkensee near Berlin in October last year - the Neumünster team was able to prove that they have a good knack for fighting. In the “Youth cm – 43 kg” category, Luis Ho Kim took first place, securing a well-deserved victory for Post SV Neumünster. Felix Worbs was also happy about first place in the “Men – 63 kg” category.
The results of the event show how well represented the team's newcomers and experienced fighters are in their categories:
| Place | name | category | team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Luis Ho Kim | Youth Cm – 43kg | Post SV Neumünster |
| 1. | Felix Worbs | Men – 63kg | Triple F |
| 2. | Mirelle Lefort | Seniors w -62 kg | Team Lefort |
| 2. | Jacques Albert Lefort | Seniors m -63 kg | Team Lefort |
| 2. | Louis Ammon Lefort | Seniors m -74 kg | Team Lefort |
The overall board of the TVSH congratulates the athletes and their coaches on these successes. Such strong performances not only increase the reputation of Post SV, but also show how firmly anchored the roots of Taekwondo are in the region.
Taekwondo – a centuries-old tradition
The enthusiasm for Taekwondo cannot only be limited to local competitions. This martial art has deep roots in Korean history and is now recognized worldwide. From the rigid competition rules to the different weight classes and strict judging methods, Taekwondo combines physical fitness with mental strength and is growing in popularity.
Learning the techniques is essential for participants to be successful in competitions. The development of Taekwondo took place over centuries until it finally gained an official structure in the 1950s with the establishment of the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF). In 2000 it was finally recognized as a discipline in the Olympic Games, which increased its popularity even further.
The performances of the Neumünster athletes at this national championship are not only a reason to be happy, but also a sign that Taekwondo is at the top in Germany. Against this background, it will be exciting to see how the active fighters will develop in the future and where they can celebrate their next successes.
