Safe through the Christmas market: Police warn of pickpockets!
Preparations for the festive period are in full swing, and the security precautions in Neumünster cannot be neglected. Special attention is paid to the Christmas markets. The risk of pickpocketing is particularly high at this time. An example of this is a 74-year-old woman from Neumünster who received an electronic bag alarm at the stand after she reported a failed pickpocketing of her backpack. Münzel advises carrying valuables in locked inside pockets and always keeping bags at the front to avoid becoming an easier target for thieves.
Prevention and information
This weekend, more precisely on Sunday, November 16th, the police will be present on the station forecourt with a prevention mobile from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This offers passers-by the opportunity to find out about safety precautions and what to do in an emergency. Münzel emphasizes the importance of conversation; If you suspect a crime, witnesses should call 110 immediately and write down as much information about the perpetrator's characteristics as possible.
The scam used by pickpockets is particularly interesting, as they often pretend to use their cell phone to look for directions. Such tricks can be highly effective, so it's important to stay alert. Representatives from the White Ring victim protection organization will also be available on Sunday to offer further information and support.
There are additional tips for homeowners to prevent burglary. Mechanical security devices such as mushroom caps in windows and door frames are recommended and it is advised to aim for the RC2 standard in security measures. This way you can effectively protect your home from uninvited guests.
Security in Neumünster is taken seriously, especially during the festive period. Thanks to the stronger police presence and extensive information, citizens should be able to get through the upcoming holidays safely and concentrate on what's important: the happy time with family and friends.
