Security and community: Neumünster's citizens' actions bring back hope!
There's some movement in the game again in Neumünster! Cavidan Gasimov, operator of the popular Baku karaoke bar, is playing a central role in the district's redevelopment. After a few months marked by allegations of violence and a noticeable withdrawal of residents, work is now underway to create a new sense of community. Gasimov, who recently supported a dance event on Johannisstrasse, sees such events as an opportunity to promote togetherness. This campaign was launched by the Sewing Machine Citizens Network, which supports exactly such initiatives in order to offer the residents of the Bahnhofsviertel a better quality of life.
Another exciting project that Gasimov has created is the regular event “Pleated Rock” which takes place every Sunday from 3pm to 5pm in his bar. This open encounter for people aged 50 and over is very popular: entry is free, and the Tackmann bakery contributes to a cozy afternoon's enjoyment with cakes. The proceeds from the sale of coffee and cake benefit the aid organization Weißer Ring Neumünster, which uses it to draw attention to its advisory services. Iris Lüder, the branch manager of the White Ring, emphasizes the importance of the low-threshold information offerings.
Community and safety
The security situation in the district has also improved. Karl Peter Weiland reports a positive perception of the new security guard at the train station, which consists of state and federal police. These measures help residents feel safer again. Weiland is even planning to donate two “citizens’ benches” to further improve the place to stay in the city center.
Another highlight for the people of Neumünster is already just around the corner: the sixth edition of the literary scarf will take place from March 15th to 29th. Organized by the Citizen Network Sewing Machine, this cultural event will feature readings in unusual locations and bring the local literary scene to life. From humorous works to captivating fables – the program has something to offer for everyone. The opening couldn't have been better chosen: Thomas Mohr will ensure a brilliant start at the Tuch + Technik Museum with a reading and musical accompaniment of Loriot's legendary “Little Opera Guide”.
Other events include a reading by Wolfgang Schütz of Christian Morgenstern's “Galgenlieder Palmström” on March 27th in Café Oldehus. This variety of literary performances promises to refresh the cultural mood in Neumünster and offer residents both emotions and fascination.
Neumünster is now not only showing itself as a place where changes in the feeling of security can be felt, but also as a place of culture and gathering. Whether it's dance events on Johannisstrasse or literary treasure hunts - we're working on better coexistence here, and it's exciting to see how the city will develop further.
