Father and daughter triumph at family jumping in Neumünster!

In Neumünster, where equestrian sport is the focus this week, the show jumping club's second show jumping tournament took place. At the Holstenhallen, a popular event location, numerous participants, including families, demonstrated their skills on the course. The line-up ranged from jumping for professionals and amateurs to special competitions for the youngest riders. A highlight was the family jumping test, which parents and children were able to complete together.

The young duo Jan and Elina Meves won the family jumping competition. Ten-year-old Elina, who already has experience in A and L show jumping, competed with her horse Petit Hermine. Her father Jan traveled with Chalistro and was visibly satisfied with the performance. He received a stylistic rating of 8.5, which underlined the positive assessment of family jumping. “It’s not only fun, it also introduces the children to the sport,” explained Jan Meves.

Top-class competition and promotion of young talent

The most difficult competition of the tournament was the S** class, which involved obstacles measuring 145 cm in height. Diarmuid Howley from TRSG Holstein was able to claim victory in an exciting play-off. With 58 rider-horse pairs starting and 14 fault-free rounds, the competition was rated strongly.

Neumünster will not only become a hotspot for equestrian sports this week. From 2025, the city will also be the venue for the HGW Federal Young Show Jumping Championships. As VR CLASSICS Neumünster reports, the event takes place as part of these popular sports days. The Horst Gebers Foundation, known for its support of youth jumping sports, has pledged its support. The event will take place in Schleswig-Holstein for the next three years - until 2027.

The HGW Federal Junior Championships, which was founded in 1987 and is named after the show jumping legend Hans Günter Winkler, is expected to attract numerous talented riders. In the past, well-known riders such as Daniel Deusser and Mario Stevens were among the finalists. The selection of the 25 pairs for the final takes place over six screening tournaments and two screening courses in Warendorf, with the style jumping competition in class M** (135 cm) representing the final challenge.

In contrast to family competitions, which focus on fun, the focus here is on skill and technique. Everyone involved is looking forward to the VR CLASSICS, which will take place from February 13th to 16th, 2025 in the Holstenhallen. Tickets are already on sale and can be purchased online and by telephone. So everyone can secure a piece of this fascinating equestrian event.

The season is off to a promising start for the riders in Neumünster, not least thanks to the committed promotion of young talent by Horses and Dreams Entertainment GmbH and the established support of the Horst Gebers Foundation. Fans can definitely look forward to some exciting years in equestrian sport.
