The traffic situation in the Kiel region is currently anything but relaxed. As this report from KN Online describes, numerous construction sites and accidents influence the Traffic flow significant. Construction sites in Kiel
There are currently significant construction sites in Kiel that are affecting traffic. One example is the partial closure of the Alte Lübecker Chaussee, where Deutsche Bahn is renewing the railway bridges. Only one lane is available and traffic is regulated by traffic lights. In addition, a digital height control was installed to monitor the passage of vehicles that were too high.
If trucks exceed the specified height of 3.60 meters, the traffic lights automatically turn red. This ensures that other vehicles also have to turn around when traffic is high to clear the turning area. The responsible authorities such as the police and road traffic authorities will be informed immediately if the height is exceeded.
Current traffic jam warnings and accident locations
The most common causes of traffic jams in Schleswig-Holstein are known and mainly affect the A1 and A7, especially during peak tourist times. Traffic accidents are increasing in the region at targeted accident hotspots, such as the Waldwiesenkreuz in Kiel and at important intersections such as Kaistraße - Stresemannplatz or Ostring - Konrad-Adenauer-Damm. Traffic and environmental situation
